Photo studies

I'm starting a series here that will be about looking for shots that catch my eye but not in the usual classic "beautiful" sense. There's something about seeing mundane things differently. I keep seeing things, particularly in my walks through the city....maybe a crack or a patch in a sidewalk, a symbol spray painted for workers, a string hung haphazardly on a tree, paint dripped on a wall. These make me pay attention and want to ask what is art, what is beauty. It's also about what happens when I turn on this more attentive mode as I'm going about my day. I'm finding it awakening.

I also see this as a sketchbook of sorts...the images are saying something to me that I may want to take into my collages and drawings.

So let's see what unfolds....
